Tentenkamp
In May 2007 the local soccer club O.V.V. organized their traditional “tentenkamp” for the E and F pupils (age 6 – 9).

The boys arrive Saturday afternoon and, together with the parents, they make camp.

The idea is that the children stay the night in tents, without their parents, which usually is a very exciting experience.

The rest of the day they play de “6-kamp” game. This year the group was divided into 8 teams of 10 boys.

SJB sponsored the shirts of the teams and of the team leaders and the staff. Over a hundred shirts with various colors were sponsored

Thanks to this initiative the annual “tentenkamp” of O.V.V. has been a great success!

Foundation Stop Poverty
SJB has been a donor to the foundation Stop Poverty! This foundation has as target to give immediate help to people in urgent conditions, by small-scale projects in the areas of schooling, water-supply, temporary aid, relief for the homeless and health-care.

One of the current activities of Stop Poverty is to improve the life of the ‘untouchables’, also known as Dalits, in India. More than 160 million Indians are considered as untouchable and are casted out from society from the day they were born, until the day they die.
Stop Poverty raises funds in order to improve the circumstances of living and the future of these untouchables by providing them education and building draw-wells in their villages.
The purpose is to contribute to a lasting fight against poverty in development countries, together with the local population.
By having the local population carried out the projects, Stop Poverty helps the poorest among the poor to help themselves.
This they support their partnering organizations in helping their own people to achieve a better and brighter future.

SJB can be a proud sponsor of Stop Poverty!

The Roparun
The Roparun is the longest estafette-run in the world. It starts in Paris and finishes in Rotterdam with (in 2006) 203 participating teams.

The motto for this run: "If you can’t make the life lasting any longer you can at least try to make it better”. This involves the life of cancer patients. In 2006 more than 3 million euro was brought together with the joining teams.

Scouting Metrogroup
SJB group supports the Scouting Metrogroup. It was started in September of 1968 as a Girl Guide group for the physically disabled girls. The scout division of handicapped girls is called the "Blauwe Vogels" (Blue birds), they chose "Blauwe Vogels" after a Belgian fairytale about a handicapped girl and her blue bird. The Rotterdam chapter of the "Blauwe Vogels" is called the "Metrogroep" named for the Metro train that originated in Rotterdam in 1968 and now serves all of the Netherlands.

In the eighties while their memberships of physically handicapped girls continued to grow, they started to see more requests from mentally or multiple handicapped boys and girls. In order to meet this growing need, the group has evolved into the "Metrogroep", a scouting group that welcomes mentally and physically handicapped children.
