SJB Energy hires power, gas traders
Privately-owned Dutch company SJB Energy Trading has hired two experienced power and gas traders as part of a move into European power and gas markets, it said Monday. The company, from Brielle, near Rotterdam, has hired Robert Mulder, formerly senior gas trader for Dutch company Delta and Gerard Koops, formerly senior short term power trader for Dutch generator Essent. SJB Energy Trading is a subsidiary of SJB Group, which is also involved in fuel oils, feedstocks and mineral distillates. The company says it works in market-niches by tailoring products to the needs of its customers in size, grade and quality.

SJB Energy Hires Gerard Koops of
Essent Energy to Trade Power
Dec. 4 (Bloomberg) -- SJB Energy Trading BV, a Dutch oil and energy company, has hired Gerard Koops of Essent Energy Trading to trade power and Robert Mulder of Delta NV to trade natural gas as it expands into coal, gas and power trading. Koops is currently senior power trader at Essent, and Mulder is a senior gas trader at Delta NV, SJB said in an e-mailed statement today.
SJB, based in Brielle, the Netherlands, in June got a license to transport natural gas to the U.K., Europe’s biggest consumer of the fuel. The U.K. will import 80 percent of its fuel by 2020, compared with 10 percent today, to make up for dwindling domestic supply.

Dutch trader SJB to enter gas and power markets
Dutch firm SJB has moved to expand its trading activities into the gas, power and coal markets and has hired a pair of traders to their energy desk.
Through its subsidiaries, privately-held SJB is active in the shipping and trade of fuel oils, intermediate refinery feedstocks and the supply och fuels for use on ships. The firm has been watching the UK and continental gas markets for some time and has brought on board a gas and power trader to shape its energy trading business. Gas trader Robert Mulder was hired from fellow Dutch firm Delta and power trader Gerard Koops was brought in from Essent.
SJB’s oil and energy trading will be conducted from its existing office in the Netherlands and from a new trading office in Geneva, Switzerland, which was due to open in mid-December.
